Universal Multiplexable matK Primers for DNA Barcoding of Angiosperms

PCR amplification of the matK barcoding region is often difficult when dealing with multiple angiosperm families. We developed a primer cocktail to amplify this region efficiently across angiosperm diversity.

DNA barcoding and phylogenetic community structure

By using DNA barcoding, we aim to answer the question, “What is the phylogenetic structure within the subplots of the 25 Ha plot of Dipterocarp forest at Kuala Belalong?

Phylogenetics and phylogenomics of Dipterocarpaceae

We focus in this study on the predominant plant family of these forests, Dipterocarpaceae. In order to resolve the phylogeny of the Dipterocarpaceae, we use sanger sequencing of chloroplast regions as well as a next generation sequencing technique: restriction site associated DNA sequencing (RAD-seq) which resolves evolutionary relationships and provide first insights into floral evolution in the tribe Shoreeae. We also assemble plastid genomes of several Dipterocarpoideae species and test their use in resolving phylogentic relationships in Dipterocarpceae.
